Microsoft is introducing a new feature in Microsoft Teams to prevent unauthorized screen captures during meetings. Starting in July 2025, the “Prevent Screen Capture” feature will be rolled out across Teams on desktop (Windows and Mac), mobile (iOS and Android), and web platforms.
How it will Work?
When a participant attempts to take a screenshot during a meeting, the meeting window will turn black, effectively blocking the capture of sensitive information. This feature aims to enhance data security by preventing unauthorized sharing of content shared during meetings.
Limitations:
Unsupported Platforms: Users joining from unsupported platforms will be automatically placed in audio-only mode to protect shared content.
Physical Capture: The feature does not prevent participants from taking photos of the screen using external devices.
Configuration Details: Microsoft has not yet specified whether this feature will be enabled by default or if it will be configurable by meeting organizers or administrators.
