Unauthorized access to data occurred on April 20, 2024, and was discovered in October 2024. The company informed the affected parties on March 14, 2025.
The total number of individuals affected remains unknown. Data breaches involving sensitive personal information pose serious concerns about privacy and the risk of identity theft. Personal and health history data of both donors and recipients are at risk.
To assist those affected, California Cryobank is offering one year of credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through CyberScout. Additionally, a dedicated toll-free call centre has been set up to address any questions from recipients.
